Auxiliary Special Focus 2007

Each year, the Auxiliary selects one or more Marin nonprofits as the special focus of the annual Showcase. This year's selections are:

  • Helen Vine Detox Center was founded in 1999 and provides detox services for adults experiencing acute addiction and/or withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs in a residential setting. The funds awarded will facilitate the purchase of 18 new mattresses and bedding, thus ensuring the comfort, health and safety of program participants.
  • Marin Services for Women was established in 1978, and provides chemical dependency recovery programs for low-income, underserved women. Funds awarded will expand the Perinatal and Child Development programs, enabling approximately sixty (60) mothers to be in treatment for addiction, and infants, toddlers and young children to be in a safe, healthy environment without separation from their mothers and participate in a child development program in a crucial period in their lives.
  • Ritter Center is a front-line service provider for the working poor and those at risk for homelessness and poverty. Founded in 1980, Ritter Center will use the funds awarded to help continue to provide services each month to those in need in Marin County. Core services include emergency food pantry, medical care, emergency financial assistance, showers and hygiene supplies, laundry facilities, emergency clothing, private voice mail and general mail delivery services.
